New statutory guidance: Careers guidance and access for education and training providers

statutory guidance

The new Statutory Guidance on careers is now out.

Careers guidance and access for education and training providers

I haven’t had time to go through it in detail but from a quick look it looks very in tune with last month’s Careers Strategy. The Gatsby Benchmarks serve as the key organising structure for the new guidance, which I think that most people will be very happy about.

I’ll dive into it in more detail soon, but in the meantime I’d be really interested to see how others are interpreting it. What will it mean for your school?

  1. More emphasis on responsibility with no extra money is my initial perception. Great to hear for the need for effective careers guidance, provision and support. From my selfish point of view as a Careers Adviser – lacking in emphasising the importance of qualified careers professionals being at the heart of the strategy/statutory duty (not the Careers Leader) and the capacity to achieve all benchmarks without more direct funds to schools and colleges… my knee jerk reaction!
