Investing in career guidance

Four international organisations (the OECD, ILO, UNESCO and the European Commission) and two agencies of the European Commission (ETF and CEDEFOP) have just issued a first joint statement encouraging governments to invest in career guidance.

The document is well worth engaging with and describes what career guidance is and outlines its importance for young people and adults in the present economic and work climate.

Hopefully, it will prove useful to stakeholders in all countries in engaging government’s in thinking about career guidance. Hopefully these agencies will have more to say in the future about how such services should be delivered and what kind of public policy systems might support the effective delivery of career guidance.
