As part of my series on the context for career I wanted to look at the natural world and at environmental change in particular. In this short lecture I explore some of the inter-relationship that exists between our careers and a changing environment.
In particular I focus on climate change and look at the way in which the warming of the earth might change the balance of occupations and sectors. I argue that if the predictions are right then a focus on career adaptability will not be sufficient to allow people to respond to the change. I present a model for thinking about different ways in which career guidance can support individuals and societies to respond to these changes.
